About Daniela

Daniela has 20 years of experience in business development, sales, marketing, government and public relations, and project management. Her strategic vision has helped organizations and their leaders find new market opportunities, launch new product and service offerings, expand into new international markets, and reach leadership positions in existing markets.

Daniela grew up in Communist Romania and obtained her first graduate degree as the country was emerging from dictatorship into a newly-defined, open-market society. The challenges associated with the two contrasting regimes and their difficult transition have shaped Daniela’s personal strength, persistence, and ability to think creatively in unfavorable situations.

As a free-thinking intellectual in pursuit of individual excellence and wisdom, Daniela has chosen personal growth through diversity instead of specialization. Her successes come from achievements in a variety of industries, such as consumer products, electrical power systems, software, and artificial intelligence.

Daniela’s work and life experience from five continents has fostered a love, knowledge, and non-judgmental appreciation of global cultures. She builds natural connections with the subjects of her work and study, leading to simple and early detection of opportunities and pitfalls. In recommending new products and services for specific target markets, she exploits Knowledge of user behavior learned through both localized and societal perspectives. Yet during exploration of new business opportunities and as an everyday life philosophy, she is acutely aware of personal, human knowledge limitations and makes decisions that allow unexpected factors to co-exist with the planned actions.

Her natural teaching abilities make her a sought-after mentor for organizations worldwide. In the power industry, she has been a frequently-requested international speaker at industry events where using simple language to portray complex concepts was key to successful implementation. She has acted as private consultant for private and government leaders worldwide, including the Brazilian Independent System Operator, the Pennsylvania/New Jersey/Maryland Interconnection, and the Australian Independent Market Operator. She has also served as the liaison between various organizations and Members of the U.S. Congress, government agencies, and industry associations, including the Federal Energy Regulatory Committee (FERC), the U.S. Army, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) – Power Systems Society.

Daniela has facilitated the formation of several joint ventures and provided the analysis and recommendations for product and organizational integration in M&A activities. After the execution of such partnerships, she provided the marketing, sales, and PR strategies for the new entities.

Daniela has also had the opportunity to build a successful company from the ground up. As a co-founder of ColdHeat, she helped grow the company from a garage operation to a fast-moving technology innovation leader in a variety of consumer product categories. She was a principal of the team that build ColdHeat’s soldering tool line from $0 to $100 million of retail value in two years. Within nine months of entering the soldering market, ColdHeat achieved 64% brand awareness, reaching the top position in the category and topping the world’s largest soldering company with 45 years of business presence. Her experience at ColdHeat also included achievements in strategic business development, joint venture partnership, international sales and distribution for both retail and industrial channels, and market and opportunity analysis.

Daniela has earned two graduate degrees from higher-education schools geographically far apart from each other: Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bucharest, Romania, and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington, USA. She obtained the latter in less than one year.

She is also an accomplished artist whose mixed-media paintings enrich private collections in the Pacific Northwest. Her recent collection, Paux des Rouges, was commissioned by the Pacific Northwest Ballet for its 2006 Gala and contained 80 miniature paintings celebrating the wonderful world of ballet.
